Foundations for Sound Business Writing

writing“I didn’t have time to make the report clearer!”

Unclear or poorly written communications are likely one of the biggest reasons for day-to-day miscommunication and misunderstandings.  Authors - the report senders - believe that what they wrote was clear and that they provided the whole story.  They also believe that their readers understand what they wrote.  Yet the results often show that the message being delivered wasn’t received clearly by its intended audience.

In this program, you will practice developing clear, concise writing skills so that you can create written reports that are well organized and inform your target audience.  You’ll learn basic business writing principles to help you gather, organize and edit material to get to your point.  Through a series of targeted writing activities, you will practice using language that is simple, straightforward and easily understood.
